Mr. James Edward Cowan, 77, of Parker St., passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Rowan County to Willie James Cowan and Mattie Elizabeth Propst Cowan on July 25, 1946.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Cowan and Joe Cowan and a sister, Sabrina Shay.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Emma Parker Cowan; a daughter, Arlene Cowan; two step daughters, Dana Parker and Karen Parker; a step son, Walter A. Moore, Jr.; two brothers, Roger (Patricia) Cowan, Pastor Calvin (Shirley) Cowan; sister, Sandra L. Cowan and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Friday, September 8th at 2:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel with family visitation at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at South Lexington City Cemetery.
