Mr. James A. Crowder, 77, passed away March 9, 2022 at Pelican Health in Thomasville, NC. He was born in Stamford, Connecticut on November 19, 1944 to Robert Crowder and Ella Sue Williams Thigpen.
He was educated in the Anson County School System in North Carolina as well as the Stamford School System in Connecticut. He retired from the Sanitation Dept in Bridgeport, Ct. Before moving back to North Carolina, James was a member of First Baptist Church of Stratford, Ct. and served as a Deacon and on the finance committee. He was a Scottish Rite Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva R. Crowder; a brother, Charles Thigpen and two sisters, Juanita Johnson and Lillian Ingram.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Robert Lee Crowder, Jr., Edward D. WIlliams and Leroy Cromwell; a daughter, Eurydice Spell; two brothers, Lee (Margaret) Thigpen and Tony Thigpen; a sister, Ella Moore; two grandchildren, Jayce A. Crowder and Kaedynn J. Keller; two brothers-in-law, Anthony Costa and Henry Johnson; a sister-in-law, Azalea Thigpen; an uncle, Athan (Pastor Iris) Tillman and a host of other family and friends.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at Flake Chapel Baptist Church in Wadesboro, NC at 2:00pm.
