James Edward Griffin, affectionately known as "Joe-Joe", was born on the 30th of May 1946.
James made his peaceful transition to Eternal Rest at Trellis Supportive Care in Winston-Salem, NC on Friday, November 12, 2021.
James attended the local schools in the city. James was earlier employed by RJ Reynolds of Winston-Salem. His work journey also included professional automobile detailing. He later retired from the City of Winston-Salem. James led a full and eventful life. He was a hardworking and strong-willed individual with a contagious laugh. James was also a self-taught skilled craftsman. He enjoyed watching cowboy pictures, eating sweets, and driving nice cars. Above all, spending time with friends and family alike was something he found great pleasure in doing. James was under the Watch Care Ministry of Abiding Faith Outreach Ministry pastored by his niece, Carol White.
James was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Blondie Delores Griffin White.
He leaves to mourn his memories four loving children; Sherril Griffin, Joseph (Taryn) Griffin, Pensacola, Florida, Timothy Griffin and James (Mika) Griffin of the City; ten grandchildren, Darrian, Tanisha, Jarell, Tierra, Tim, Brandon, Maya, King, Quan and Mikell, eight great grandchildren, Demarion, Jayden, Averi, Lee, Serenity, Lai'ken. Legend, Gabriella, Uncles; William Griffin, Willie (Ernestine) Griffin; Aunts Carroll J. Griffin, and Stella (Ricky) Imes.
James is also survived by his nieces: Dianna (Michael) Ball, with whom he shared a special bond, Carol (Kevin) White of the city and a host of cousins and extended relatives.
Funeral services celebrating his life were held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel (Winston-Salem). Words are inadequate to express our most sincere appreciation for all the many acts of love and kindness shown during this time of bereavement. Your cards, phone calls, visits and other good deeds will linger in our hearts forever. May the Lord bless each of you abundantly. -The Family
