Mr. James William Hairston, 72, formerly of Frank Hulin Rd., died Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Hinkle Hospice House.

He was born in Davidson County on February 4, 1946 to Savannah Hairston Davis and reared by John and Veronia Hairston.He was a member of Buncombe Baptist Church and served on the usher and trustee boards and was a member of Elites Club.He was preceded in death by his son, Johnathan Hairston; a daughter, Evelyn Brown; a brother, Eugene Hairston and a sister, Doris A. King.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lula Mae Hairston of the home; his mother, Savannah H. Davis; five sons: Henry Norman, Rodney (Angela) Norman, Antoine "Tony" (Stephanie) Norman, Gregory (Marcie) Norman and Rev. Darrell (Caprice) Hairston; a daughter, Donita (Bishop Keith Martin) Martin; 13 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny (Sharon) Davis and Russell Davis; a sister, Shirley Davis and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 12:00 Noon at Buncombe Baptist Church with family visitation at 11:00am.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
