Mr. James Montre' Matthews was born January 27, 1980 in Guilford County to James Vernon Matthews, Jr. and Lula Alford Farabee. He departed this life on Sunday morning, June 7, 2020 in Thomasville.

He attended Guilford County Schools and graduated from Ragsdale High School.James was a great football player, an excellent wrestler and he completed 4 years of Air Force JROTC. He attended Guilford Technical Community Collegeand earned associate degrees in Mechanics and Auto Body & Paint.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Lucille Petty; maternal grandparents, David Alford, Jr. and Easter Emanuel Alford and his sister, Angie Braswell.

James leaves to cherish his memory his children: Israel Matthews, DeAndre Stover, LAMaya Matthews, Kiera Weaver, Tiana Weaver, Shawnee Brown, Sakwena Weaver, Christopher Lawson, Da'Shaun MCKoy and Jazwlequa Lawson; two grandchildren; his parents, James V. (Catherine) Matthews and Lula A. (Walter) Farabee; his siblings: Keri Morgan, Michael Matthews, Semar (David) Leary, Ahmet Atansay, Thomas Matthews and Timothy Matthews; grandfather, Charlie Petty and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park.
