James Edmond Oliver, 61, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 11, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. James was born to Israel Odell Oliver and Carrie Mae Lindsay, September 19, 1956, in Forsyth County, NC.

James was a member of New Revelation Ministries until his health would no longer allow. During his life, he gratefully served in the U.S. Army. His hands found work in various areas: certified as a forklift driver, small motor mechanic, painted for over 25 years, thus becoming an owner of J & H Renovation Services; he also worked at Hanes Brands as a sewer, Thomas Bus Company and with Goodwill Industries as a forklift driver. His heart was with Hosanna House of Transition, Inc., where he was the founder and director along with his wife, Sandra.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Ray Oliver; father-in-law, Robert L. Smith and mother-in-law, Mary L. Smith.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife, Sandra Sherill-Oliver; son, Dennis (Mavis) Byrd-Marshall; daughter, Jarmila Barriga; two brothers, Melvin (Levon) Oliver, Tyrone (Crystal) Oliver; three sisters: Carrie Oliver, Loretta Evon Oliver, Roma Denise Oliver; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Henry (Carlene) Moore; three sisters-inlaw: Cheryl Cooper-Peters, Elaine Brockman, Thomina Mills; God Aunt, Brenda Mills and a host of other family and friends.

Services of Honor will be Friday at 1:00 P.M. at St. John Baptist Church, 1200 N. Cleveland Ave. Winston-Salem, NC 27101 with family visitation at 12:30 P.M. The family will receive friends at 1504 E. 21st St. Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
