James Lewis Tyner, Jr., 85, of Walkertown, NC, traded his mortal frame for immortality on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.He was born March 1, 1932 to the late James Lewis Tyner, Sr. and Letha Peak Tyner in Forsyth County, NC.
Funeral service will be held Monday, January 8, 2018, at 1 P.M. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 3978 Pine Hill Road, Walkertown, NC 27051 with visitation a half hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Sunday, 1:30 P.M.- 6:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service (Winston-Salem).
He was educated in the local WSFCS and was a graduate from Carver Consolidated High School.He was a man skilled with many talents, thus he ran and operated his own electric welding and saw mill business.James was a devoted member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church until his health would no longer allow.
In addition to his parents, James L. Tyner, Sr. and Letha P. Tyner, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Theodore, Wade and Roger Lee Tyner.
Those loving family members who survive and will cherish his memory are his son, Vernon Maurice Tyner of the home; daughter, Kimberly Gilliam Nicholson of Tampa, FL.; sister, Nancy Tyner of Walkertown, NC; brother, Howard (Juanita) Tyner of High Point, NC; several grandchildren; great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
