James R. Vinson, 66, passed on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:00pm at Fairview Heights Baptist Church. The body will lie in state from Noon until the hour of the service.Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

He was born in Rowan County to the late E.V. Robert Vinson and Beulah Fortune Vinson on March 18, 1951.He was a graduate of Price High School and retired from the City of Salisbury. He was a faithful member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church, serving on many ministries.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Elder Shirley Clodfelter Vinson; two sons, Michael Streeter and Joseph Vinson; two daughters, Jamie Vinson and Taijuan Vinson; four brothers: Ernest Fortune, Frederick Vinson, Jerry (Wanda) Vinson and Douglas (Jackie) Vinson; a sister, Burine (David) Pate; 17 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
