Janet Renee Deese Carter, age 60, gave up time for Eternity on Sunday, August 24, 2025. She was born October 23, 1964 in Atlanta, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Bradley Deese and Dorothy Hunt Deese Oxendine.
She was educated in the public schools of Atlanta, Georgia and was last employed with Burger King in Mocksville, North Carolina for several years.
Janet was a member of Redland Church of Christ in Advance, North Carolina. She was an easy-going person who enjoyed spending time with her family. Janet enjoyed cooking, taking care of the family animals, cleaning, listening to music, admiring art, traveling, watching various programs to learn about the Lumbee culture, telling jokes and watching comedy. Spoiling her grandchildren, who were the 'apples of her eye', was a great source of pleasure and enjoyment. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and love of laughter.
Her parents; siblings: Jimmy L. Deese, Delores Cavender and Linda Oxendine; and her daughter, Nicole Carter, all preceded her in death.
Those that say farewell and share many fond memories are: husband, Richard C. Carter; daughter, Shirley Carter; grandchildren, Alexis Carter and Teikhen Powell, Jr. both of Mocksville, North Carolina.; best friend, Linda Fisher of Mocksville, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Redland Church of Christ in Advance, North Carolina.
