Janet Inez was born on June 27, 1943, in Clarendon County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Asbury and Sarah Jane McCain.

Her formal education was received in the public schools of Clarendon County, South
Carolina where she graduated from Ebenezer High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation she ventured to New York to explore professional opportunities.

While there, she enjoyed boardwalk strolls at Jones Beach in Long Island, NY. While enjoying one of these moments, she saw "the most beautiful, bowed legs" she had ever seen in her life. They belonged to Mr. Leon Willie Jones. Evidently, she was the most beautiful woman he had seen. He pursued courting her and it took him asking her out three times before she agreed. This led to them enjoying sixty years of marital bliss and their three children Derrick, Monique, and DeSean.


They established their life in Mocksville, NC at 80 Marconi Street where they took in and
loved generations of loved ones for over forty decades. They have served and raised their family as faithful members of Redland Church of Christ in Advance, NC.


Professionally, Janet served in the medical field as a CNA, and later at PPG factories as
fiberglass technician, from which she retired with her tenure at PPG of Lexington, NC.
She enjoyed swimming, sewing beautiful creations to pass and give to generations, and
using her craftsman skills to build things around the house. She enjoyed going on walks for an average of eight miles twice every day, never missing a day. She helped families throughout the community, and never made a kid feel left out. Janet took in countless children and loved themas if they were her own. No matter their issues, her love was stronger than it all.

On Sunday, June 30, 2024, Janet Inez McCain Jones peacefully transitioned into the
embrace of God to hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant.", and her heavenly rewards. We now honor her as an Ancestor and thank God for the privilege of sharing life with her.


Her life will forever be cherished and remembered by her loving husband Leon W. Jones,
her daughter Monique (David) Jones Carraway of Greensboro, NC, two sons of Mocksville, NC, Derrick Jones and DeSean (Mandy) Jones, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Johnnie Sinkler of Sumpter, SC, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


She will always be remembered for her love of others, her loyalty, and her kind heart.


Her life will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Redland Church of Christ, Advance, North Carolina, with visitation at 11:00 PM, prior to the service.
