IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanette Rogers
Smith
February 10, 1939 – October 9, 2021
Our beloved Jeanette Rogers "Nette" Smith, age 82, transitioned to eternal rest, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at her residence in Churchland, North Carolina. Nette was born in Oconee County, South Carolina on February 10, 1939. She was the daughter of Johnny R. Rogers and Nora Barton Rogers who preceded her in death. We give thanks to Our Lord and Savior for the years we shared a wonderful life. We find solace in knowing that she is resting in God's hands and is soaring with the Angels.
Nette was educated in the Davidson County public schools and attended Dunbar High School. She worked at Lexington Health Care in the dietary department until she retired and became a homemaker, enjoying making sure that her family was loved and cared for.
Jeanette was a member of Union Chapel AME Zion Church and served on the usher board, Deaconess Board, as a Stewardess, secretary of the missionary department and president of the kitchen committee. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking a scrumptious meal and baking a heavenly dessert that was enjoyed by all. One of her favorite pleasures was spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren, who called her Granny.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Smith and a brother, Eugene Rogers.
Cherished and loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her daughter, Julia Shirlene Smith-Vaughn; her son, Larry Smith; three grandchildren: Shemar Smith, Travonia (Bernard) Davis and D.J. Vaughn; five great-grandchildren: Jaela Smith, Micah Davis, Seneca Davis, Uriah Davis and Asa Davis; two sisters, Elnora Hairston and Christine Smith; three brothers: Thomas Rogers, John Rogers and Willie (Dorene) Rogers; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hazel Griffin and Margaret P. Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00pm at Union Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be Friday at Roberts Funeral Service from 1:00pm-7:00pm with the family present from 6:00 to 7:00pm.
