Jerry Lee Smith, age 56, of Lexington, North Carolina, was called home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2025. He was born on May 26, 1969, and lived a life rooted in love, family, and faith.

Jerry's greatest joy in life was his family—especially his grandbabies. He truly lived for them. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines, coaching on the ball field, or simply soaking in time together, his love for them was unmistakable. He spent countless hours on the ball field alongside his son, Colby, coaching and mentoring many children over the years, leaving a lasting impact far beyond the game. In recent years, one of his greatest joys was watching his grandson Asher play ball, just as proudly as he loved watching his granddaughter Finlee shine while cheering at competitions.

Jerry was a devoted sports fan and loved sharing those moments with the people he loved. One of his final memories was watching Miami defeat Ohio State on New Year's Eve—a fitting moment for someone who found so much joy in sports, family, and togetherness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anisa Hall Smith; his son, Colby Lee Smith, and daughter-in-law, Sarah Smith; his cherished grandchildren, Finlee and Asher Smith; his mother, Carolyn Lester; his sisters; and many brothers, sisters-in-laws, nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Lester, and his brother, Dane Smith.

Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though our hearts ache, we find peace and comfort in our faith, knowing that this is not goodbye, but "see you later." We hold tightly to the promise that we will see him again one day, reunited in Heaven, where there is no pain—only everlasting joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
