Mr. Jessie Lee Cuthrell, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Atrium Health Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Jessie was born November 29, 1951 in Iredell County to the late Dallas Alexander Cuthrell and Mamie Lou Stimpson Cuthrell. Educated in Iredell County public schools, Jessie enjoyed playing baseball, softball and basketball. One of his greatest accomplishments was coaching an adult female softball team in which his team won several championships. He worked for Dixie Furniture (Lexington Home Bands) before retiring.
Jessie was the musician for New Creation Church in Statesville, N.C. He was devoted to playing the musical organ at church, singing and worshipping the Lord. He enjoyed playing his keyboard at home and teaching his grandchildren how to play it.
Jessie is preceded in death by his sister, Helen Pruitt, four brothers: Landis Cuthrell, Quincy Houpe, Sylvester Stimpson and Lewis John Dallas Cuthrell, and grandson, JyAvious DeAndre Littles.
Left to embrace and cherish Jessie's loving memories are his sons; Jesse Cuthrell, David Cuthrell and Eric (Kimberly) Cuthrell; a daughter, Melinda Cuthrell; two sisters, Mamie Jones and Molly (Ray) Redmond; 19 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Jessie's life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Piney Grove AME Zion Church, 140 Fox Hunter Road, Harmony, North Carolina. The family visitation is at 1:00 p.m. The burial will be at Piney Grove AME Zion Church Cemetery.
