IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmy Lee
Mccray
April 24, 1961 – June 29, 2025
immy Lee McCray was born on April 24, 1961, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late Leroy and Mable Gadson McCray. On June 29, 2025, Jimmy took a peaceful journey as he transitioned into eternal rest, surrounded by a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Jimmy was a 1980 graduate of Timmonsville High School in Timmonsville, South Carolina. A devoted member of Union Baptist Church, he faithfully served on the Kitchen Committee and was a participant in the Men's Ministry. His love for God was evident in all he did. Passionate about missionary work-especially with seniors and youth-Jimmy gave generously from the heart. Worshipping and sharing the goodness of God brought him true joy. He was indeed a faithful soldier in the army of the Lord.
Known for his strong will and unwavering determination, Jimmy approached every task with dedication and excellence. A self-starter and servant at heart, he worked in various roles throughout his life and proudly considered himself an entrepreneur. He earned a reputation as "the most skillful window cleaner you've ever seen."
Jimmy was also known for his gift of conversation-always making sure his voice was heard. One of his favorite sayings was, "Say no more." A true original, he brought a spark to every room he entered. He was a loyal UNC Tar Heels fan and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Brice and LaVon Baker; and sisters, Jeanette Palmer, Deborah Monroe, and Patricia Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Ellen "Bonnie" McCray; two sons, Eron Jimell McCray and Zykeisus "Zack" McCall; two brothers, Jerry (Carolyn) McCray and Bobby (Rosa) Green; three sisters, Janice McCray, Carolyn Baker, and Gloria (William) Wright; his godson, Alonzo Smith; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and treasured friends.
Jimmy lived his life with purpose, passion, and unwavering faith. He finished his journey his way-through God.
