Joann Lee Drummond, 67 of Winston-Salem, NC, transitioned from this earthly journey peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Trellis Supportive Care. She was born February 23, 1956 in Winston-Salem, NC to Ethel Mae and Jimmy Lee. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; late husband, Robert Drummond; brothers: Paul Horne, Jimmie Lee, Sr. and Troy Lee.
Joann was raised in Winston-Salem, NC where she attended the local Winston-Salem Forsyth County Public Schools. She was employed for over 20 years at Murphys Lunch, formerly known as Bennetts Lunch. She was a loving mother and friend to many. In her leisure time she enjoyed dancing and preparing meals for her family and friends. Joann was genuinely loved and well known throughout the community of Winston-Salem, NC.
Joann is survived by her four children: Tywanda Lee Kirby (Roderick), Kelvin Lee (Jaleccia), Gerald Lee and Cynthia Lee all of Winston-Salem, NC.; 10 grandchildren: Rod Kirby, Jr. (Jasmin), Terell Kirby, Brianna Kirby, Shinesha Smith, Gerald Lee Jr., Makayley Young, Geremiah Carter, Giamiaha Lee, Gabriella Lee, and Carter Lee; 1 great granddaughter, Savannah Kirby; siblings: Shirley Lee, Ola Mae Lee, Naomi Lee, Tommy Lee, Charles Lee, Ronald Lee, Beverly Lee and sister-in-law, Teresa McMillian Lee all of Winston-Salem, NC; and a great number of nieces and nephews; and close friends, Jasper and Jackie White.
A special acknowledgement to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health Intensive Care Unit (west wing staff) and Trellis Supportive Care nursing staff.
Her life will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel with family visitation at 12 noon prior to the service. She will rest at Mt. Gur Cemetery, Kernersville, NC. Public viewing will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
