John Thomas Hearst, 87, of Greensboro St. Ext., went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 25, 2021 on Thanksgiving Day. On that day our family gave thanks to God for all He had done in his life.
The funeral service will be Saturday in the Craven-Powell Chapel of Roberts Funeral Service at 1:30pm with family visitation at 1:00pm.
He was born June 2, 1934 in Lincolnton, Ga to Wade Hearst and Lillie Ree Richards Hearst. He worked for many furniture factories but retired from Dixie Furniture after 14 years of service. After retirement, he started a lawn service business. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice Hearst; a granddaughter, Shiquan Hearst; three brothers: Willie Hearst, Tommy Blackwell and Joe Hearst and two sisters, Mary Helen Hearst and Katie Mae Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Shirley L. Jackson, John T. (J.T.) Hearst, Jr., Pamula Hearst and Sharail Black Hearst; a step daughter, Reba Watts; two brothers, Bobby (Mary Ann) Richards and Arthur Richards; five sisters: Willie Mae Holmes, Beverly Wingate, May Frances (Timothy) Price, Hattie Bell Murry and Mary Lou Harris; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Roosevelt Johnson; a special friend, Louise (Snooky) Hall; devoted cousins: Gyp Murray, Alfonzo Richards and Gary Hearst and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
