John Henry Spruill, Jr., son of the late Maggie Watkins and John Henry Spruill, Sr., was born August 13, 1944. He departed this life September 10, 2015.

Funeral service will be Saturday, September 19, 2015, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1212 N. Dunleith Ave. at 12 noon with family visitation an hour before the service.

John worked for the City of Winston-Salem in the Landfill Division.

He is survived by his wife Carmen Spruill; sons: Sam Jones, Jason Pearson, Tim Spruill, all of Ellerbe, NC, Dequan (Charie) Jones of Kernersville, NC; daughters: Linda Hairston, Barbara Morrison, Faye Spruill, Eva (Jerome) London, all of West End, NC, Chavora Jones and Olivia Montey of the home; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Colon (Cleo) Spruill; sister, Catherine Spruill of Asheboro, NC; sisters-in-law: Marcia (Reginald) Walton Chappell of Chase, MD, Sheryl (Rayvon) Adams of Winston-Salem, NC; brother-in-law Roderick Jones; fathers-in-law: Dossie Mumford of Sanford, FL, Milton Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; special friends: Rodney Gore, Robert Love, Greg Miller all of Winston-Salem, NC and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
