Obituary

Johnny Lewis Peterson, 56, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina slipped away from this earthly life on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. He was born on February 10, 1967 to the late Roland Peterson and Patty Searcy Peterson in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Johnny, affectionately known as "Buster", received his formal education from the WSFC Public Schools in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and was a graduate of Carver High School, Class of '85. John, as he was also known, accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at United Metropolitan Baptist Church where he served on the youth usher board.

Buster had a great passion and love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, grilling and landscaping. Buster was employed with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools in the maintenance department and most recently the City of Winston-Salem in the Parks and Recreations division.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Peterson; grandparents: Macie Peterson, Magnolia Fair Coleman and Howard Ingram Searcy.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved mother, Patty Peterson; his siblings: Paula Thompson, Angela and Kent Beatty, Matthew Peterson; devoted nieces: Alicia Thompson, Monet Beatty, Chloe Beatty; aunts, uncles and a host of cousins, other family and friends

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Roberts Funeral Service (Winston-Salem). Interment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
