Obituary

After a lengthy, heart-breaking period of physical and mental decline due to Alzheimers, Mrs. Josephine Holt Gaddy transitioned from earth to glory on May 12, 2018.

Josephine was born on April 16, 1939 in Lexington, NC to the late John Clifford and Laura Lindsay Holt. She was a 1957 graduate of Dunbar High School. Her past employments included Burlington Industries, Leggett and Platt and a domestic engineer. The most rewarding career for her was caring and nurturing her family. As long as she was able to lift her hands, she desired to help lift someone up.She always sacrificed her needs for the needs of her family.

Josephine, Jo, Momma, Granny Joe, Aunt Jo or JoJo, as she was affectionately called, enjoyed having fun. Known to everyone for her feistiness and diva style, she could be seen in her display of leopard print. She was the "life" of any family gathering. Even in her battle with Dementia and Alzheimer's, Josephine maintained her quick-witted humor, contagious laugh and spunkiness.

She was a member of Old Smith Grove View Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Gaddy; one daughter, Valerie Holt Craven, one sister, Mary Ann Holt, three brothers, Charles Clifford Holt and Sylvester Holt and Garland Holt.

Josephine leaves to cherish her memories; two sons, The Rev. Michael C. Gaddy (Monique) and Charles E.
