Minister June L. Young Bishop was born on January 26, 1968 in Davidson County to the late Ernestine Young and Raymond Carl Lyons. She peacefully entered eternal rest at her residence on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

June was a proud 1986 graduate of Lexington Senior High School. She dedicated many years of service to PPG Industries and later worked for Daimler Freightliner. A woman of strong faith, June answered her call to ministry at Files Chapel Baptist Church, where she preached her initial sermon under the leadership of the late Rev. J. W. Cade. She later became a devoted member of the Greater Church and was ordained by Bishop Sheldon McCarter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Tammy Bullock.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Malcolm Bishop; one brother, Rev. Stacey (Sandra) Young; her godmother, Mary Lou Harris; two god-sisters, Michelle (Shelton) Crump and Melissa Bradley; goddaughter, Sydney Faust;  aunts: Wilma Broadie, Veola Young, Deborah Young, Gwen Elam and Lula (Bryce) Debose; uncles: Steve Young, Bryant Lyons and Jesse Lyons; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever treasure her love and kindness.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Files Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Righteous Church of God Cemetery.
