Lena Mae Tuttle Leonard was born on June 12, 1928 in Davidson County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Harry Tuttle and Myrtle Thomas Tuttle. Lena was reared in a Christian home where she and her brothers and sisters were taught kindness, love and generosity for others. She had a loving spirit that transcended throughout her life.
A Christian woman of faith, Lena was a devoted member of Brooks Temple United Methodist Church where she was a member of the senior choir, United Methodist Women and communion steward chairperson.
Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ivan Leonard; a son, Gary E. Leonard; a daughter, Nancy Leonard; a grandson, Deric Leonard; two brothers, Clevester Tuttle and Lindsay B. Tuttle and a sister, Nellie Wagner.
The loss of our dear loved one, March 8, 2021 was devastating to our family. With the comfort, love, and support from friends, family and Our God, we can and will get through this.
Lena will be remembered with love and affection by her sons, Robert (Emma) Leonard and Vernon Leonard; five daughters: Wanda Peebles, Priscilla F. Leonard, Earlene Leonard, Martha King and Cammie (Bruce) Smith; two sisters, Elise McIntosh and Dora Hargrave; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren;two special neighbors, Betty Mae Tuttle and Jackie Tuttle; her special friends: Hazel Grimes, Cornellis Thomas, Linda Thomas and Gwendolyn Bradshaw and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private service will be on Sunday at Brooks Temple United Methodist Church with visitation from Noon until 1:00pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing are required.
Public viewing will be Saturday from 1-5pm at Roberts Funeral Service.
