Leona Irene Transou, 78, was born on January 26, 1946 to the late Robert B. and Irene Tinsley Jones in Forsyth County, North Carolina. She transitioned from life to eternal rest on Sunday morning, October 27, 2024 at her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Leona received her formal education from the local Winston-Salem Forsyth County Public Schools System in Forsyth County, North Carolina. She found a greater need for caring for others and worked as a CNA at Yadkin Nursing Facility. Leona found her spiritual walk and journey to be nurtured at New Hope AME Zion Church in Lewisville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert B. and Irene Jones; brother, Harold Gray Jones; and sisters: Sharon Wagner, Kathy McIntosh and Stephanie Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Tracy (Rick) Knox, Corey Hill; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers: Richard (Janet) Jones, Luther (Ann) Jones, Terry Jones; sister, Darlene (Ephriam) Chandler; devoted friend and caregiver, Kenneth "Butch" Jones and Tonya Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Homegoing services will be held at 12:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service (Winston-Salem) with visitation at 11:00 A.M. prior to the service. A public viewing will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024 at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.
