Mr. Leroy "Kokomo" "Bus" Smith, 84, of Simerson Rd., died Sunday, April 12, 2020.
He was born June 17, 1935 to Joseph Smith and Martha Henderson Smith in Davidson County. He retired from Owens Illinois as a custodian.He was a faithful member of Union Chapel AME Zion Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edna Griffin and Robena Jones and two brothers, Joseph and William Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Jeanette R. Smith; a daughter, Julia Shirlene Smith-Vaughn; a son, Larry Smith; three grandchildren: Shemar Smith, Travonia Davis and D.J. Vaughn; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Griffin; three sisters-in-law: Margaret P. Smith, Elnora Hairston and Christine Smith; three brothers-in-law: Thomas Rogers, John Roger and Jim Roger and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A private graveside will be held Thursday at Union Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery.Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1-5pm at the funeral home.
