Mr. Lewis Terry, 87, of Wrenn Dr., passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at his residence.
The funeral service will be Sunday, January 11th at 2:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church with family visitation a half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery with full military honors.
Public viewing will be Saturday from 1-6pm at Roberts Funeral Service.
He was born on September 3, 1927 in Greenwood, SC to the late Bishop Terry and Bessie Childs. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was also founder of the Terry-Mathis-Palmore Family Reunion. He was a truck driver with Billings Trucking Company and also served honorably in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Angelo Terry and Carlos Terry; two daughters, Verana T. Petty and Rhonda Fuller; brothers, Charlie, Foster, Melvin, Ollie and Thomas; sisters, Julia T. Lockhart, Katie Brummell and Betty McIntosh.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mattie G. Terry of the home; sons, Tyrone Terry, Ronald (Rosa) Terry; daughters, Angeline Terry, Jeavetta Denise (Norman) Johnson, Brenda Hargrave; a son-in-law, Ivey Petty; a daughter-in-law, Candace Terry; one sister, Willie Woods; sisters-in-law, Mary Terry and Sadie T. Allen; brothers-in-law, John Neely, Robert Glenn, Clarence "Donnie" Glenn; 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
