Mrs. Lillie Mae Cain Scott passed away quietly at her home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in Mocksville, North Carolina.
She was born January 5, 1930, in Davie County, North Carolina to the late Carl Clifton Cain and Sarah Parthenia Howell Cain. While still very young, her parents instilled a religious sensitivity in the family. Lillie never strayed from her very early teachings of her Christian values and her love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Lillie attended the public school system in Davie County, North Carolina. She met and dated Arthur Lemuel Scott, Jr., and after a beautiful courtship, they were married.
Shortly, after her marriage to Arthur, the couple began their family. Lillie was a loving wife and devoted mother to her six cherished children. She immensely enjoyed the role of a mother and parent. Lillie made sure to instill in them the core values of respect. After the death of her husband of 53 years, she carried on the role of the matriarch and was dedicated to the cohesion of the family.
Lillie was a devoted member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Mocksville for many years until her transition. While a member, she served as a Deaconess, President of the Deaconess Board, President of the Usher Board, Chairman of the Rainbow Tea, President of the Missionary Board, and former Sunday School teacher. One of the joys of her life was looking forward to attending church on Sunday; not only to pay her respect to the Lord, but also to fellowship with other members of the church.
After being a devoted homemaker for many years, Lillie retired from Jockey International, Cooleemee, North Carolina. Lillie had several hobbies that she deeply enjoyed. She loved cooking and ensuring that anyone who stopped by her home had something good to eat. She also loved taking care of her flowers, sewing, quilting, gardening, canning and spoiling her children.
Her parents. and her husband, Arthur Lemuel Scott, Jr.; and her siblings: Clifton Cain, Evola Ellison, Garfield Cain, Roland Cain, Millie Ann West, Wilbur Jr. Cain and Hilda Ruth Smith preceded her in death.
Lillie, who had a warm and generous spirit, leaves behind her six children to cherish her memory: Sarah Lovella Scott of the home, Shirley Scott Crowner of Baltimore, Maryland, George Lemuel Scott, Sr. of Mocksville, North Carolina, Henry Lee (Katrina) Scott of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Arthur Eugene (Ida) Scott, Sr. of Decatur, Georgia and Clifton Eric (Ramona) Scott, Sr. of Mocksville, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; Tanyja, Deidra, Arthur Jr. (Gene), Anthony, Clifton Jr., David, George Jr., Arthur Robert, Sharry, Garry and Robert; nine great grandchildren: Karis, Taylor, Stevon, Chaise, Tequan, Anthony, Jr. (AJ), Christian, Justin and Jason; two great-great grandchildren: August and Teagan; a sister, Faye Elizabeth (Richard) Carter of Mocksville, North Carolina; a sister-In-law, Hattie Mae Scott of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The service of Triumphant Celebration will be conducted Noon, Monday, April 15, 2024 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Mocksville, North Carolina with public viewing at 11:00 AM prior to service time.
