Obituary

Mrs. Linda Bell Talbert, 75, of Burl Owens Road, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at New Jersey AME Zion Church by Rev. Jimmy Griffin with family visitation at 1:30 P.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Talbert was born August 23, 1946 in Lexington, NC to Marshall and Lula Mae Bell. She was a1964 graduate of Dunbar High School in Lexington. She graduated from North Carolina Central University in 1970 with a Bachelors Degree in Education, and in 1984 received a Masters Degree in Technology from A & T State University. Mrs. Talbert worked as an Adult Education Instructor in Baltimore, MD and returned to Lexington in the late 70's where she was employed by the Davidson County School System as a Business Education Teacher at North Davidson Middle School. In 2013, Mrs. Talbert retired after 27 years of service. During her tenure as a teacher, she excelled at engaging students and encouraging them to strive for excellence. She had the highest degree of integrity, empathy and patience, with a life-long passion for learning.

Mrs. Talbert was a devoted Christian and faithful life member of New Jersey AME Zion Church and held many positions: serving as Class Leader, Sunday School Teacher, President of Deaconess Board, Missionary, Stewardess Board and Finance Committee.

Her parents, Marshall and Lula Mae Bell, brother, Marshall Rogers Bell and grandparents, William and Thelma Hogan preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Dwight E. Talbert, Sr.; two sons, Dwight Talbert, Jr. (Tammy) and Bryant Talbert (fiancee Amanda Logan) of Lexington; and eight grandchildren: Aaron J. Talbert of Winston-Salem, Halie Talbert of Salisbury, Kamryn Matthews , Jahquria Smith, Jashala Smith, Demetrius Brown, Jabrell Smith, and Nathaniel Wilson, all of High Point; aunts: Joanna Cuthbertson of Salisbury, Mary Thomas of Fayetteville and Reverend Lena Craven of Asheboro; four sisters: Shirley Bell Bynoe and Juliana Bell Ballard of Newark, DE, Dr. Cynthia Bell (Arthur Childs) of Washington, DC and Dr. Josephine Bell Jones of Lexington; two brothers, Aggrester Bell (Gladys) of Woodleaf and Harold Bell of Washington, DC; four sisters-in-law: Kiwana Crump, Brenda Talbert, Norma Talbert and Irma Talbert, all of Lexington; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Talbert of Salisbury and Paul (Betty) Talbert of Lexington; special niece and nephew, Arycnta Ali-Childs and Ahmed Ali Childs of Washington, DC; 26 nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 11th from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service and at other times at 102 Lincoln Avenue, Lexington, NC. Public viewing will be Monday from 1:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service.
