Lottie Everlena Garrett departed her earthly home at the age of 100 on July 23, 2023. She was the youngest of three children born to Pleasant and Lottie Smoot Garrett, in Mocksville, North Carolina.

After graduation from Davie County Training School in 1941, she graduated from Apex Cosmetology School in Baltimore, MD. She was a local hairdresser for over 50 years.

"Lean" as was affectionately known, was a member of the NAACP, Senior Services Volunteer, and a faithful lifelong member of Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church. For a number of years, she was a choir member and Presbyterian Women's member and she was also a Sunday School teacher.

She was a jovial person who enjoyed her family, church members, customers, friends and Senior Center lunch buddies. She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, bingo, word-finds, jigsaw puzzles and dominoes.

A big debt is due to doctors, nurses, therapists, aides, family and friends who contributed to her quality of life over the years and in her final days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Rufus and Dorothy. She leaves precious memories for her daughter Alice; son-in-law Rev. Andrew W. Brown, Jr.; grandchildren Andrienne Brown and Andrew Brown, III; and other relatives and friends.

Roberts Funeral Services, 953 Salisbury Rd., Mocksville, is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until Noon on Saturday, July 29th; the service will follow. Interment will take place at the Mocksville Second Presbyterian Cemetery.
