With hearts full of sorrow and hope, we announce the passing of our cherished friend, family member and devoted servant of God. Her life was a testament to faith, compassion and unwavering belief in the goodness of the Lord. As her earthly journey concludes, we are comforted by the promise of eternal life and the assurance that her soul rests peacefully in God's embrace.

A Life of Love, Service and Devotion

Born in Mocksville, North Carolina on October 15, 1926, Lucille Ijames was raised in the light of faith, embodying Christian values from an early age. She lived with a heart open to God's calling, striving always to serve others with kindness, humility and grace. Whether through acts of charity, prayerful counsel or steadfast commitment to her church, Lucille was an example of true discipleship.

Lucille found strength and inspiration in Scripture, often sharing passages that uplifted and encouraged those around her. Her home was filled with warmth, prayer and gratitude, always welcoming friends and family for fellowship and worship. Through trials and triumphs, her faith remained a guiding beacon, offering hope and resilience to all who witnessed their journey.

As a member of Clement Grove Church congregation, Lucille contributed generously of her time and talents-as a missionary, choir member, Ladies Auxiliary member, and working with the Bible study lesson development committee. Her compassion extended beyond the church walls, reminding us to love our neighbors and to care for the least among us, as Christ taught.

Lucille operated a dairy farm, raised cattle and cultivated her own produce as part of her livelihood. She served as a custodian at Northwest Child Development School and William R. Davie School. Additionally, she provided private care to individuals in need.

Lucille was born the youngest child of the late William Oscar Ijames and Lessie Lene Frost. She was preceded in death by her four brothers: Lois, Archie, Crafford and Walter; and two sisters, Sadie and Omega.

Survived By

Lucille is survived by a devoted cousin who was like a sister, Mrs. Edmonia Hollis and a loving host of nephews, nieces, cousins, community of believers and friends. The spiritual legacy Lucille leaves behind is rooted in devotion, encouragement and the hope found in Christ Jesus.

She touched countless lives, not only through acts of kindness but through steadfast faith and love for the Word of God. Her commitment to God's teachings and to serving others has inspired many and will continue to resonate through generations.

Remembering Their Legacy

A memorial service will be held at Palmetto Church cemetery on August 9, 2026, at 1:00pm, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Lucille's life and faith. Together, we will pray, share memories and reflect on the blessings Lucille bestowed upon us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clement Grove Church in Lucille's memory.

We give thanks to God for the gift of Lucille's life-a life lived with purpose, hope and unwavering trust in the Lord. May her memory inspire us to walk in faith, love one another and serve with humility.

As we mourn her passing, we rejoice in the promise of resurrection and everlasting peace. Lucille has taken her rest. She has left "this old sinful world" and is awaiting the return of her Lord and Savior, Yeshua the King.
