Obituary
Mrs. Lucy Estella Moore Knotts gained her wings on early Saturday morning, September 19, 2020 at her residence on Poplar St.
She was the daughter of Lester Moore and Wyomia Hargrave Moore.She was educated in the Lexington City School System and graduated as a CNA from Davidson County Community College.Mrs. Knotts was a 30-year employee of the Davidson County Health Department as well as a healthcare worker with Lexington Healthcare, Brian Center and Golden Age Nursing Facility.
She was a faithful and lifelong member of Ezekiel AME Zion Church where she was the mother of the church and served on various committees.She was a charter member of VFW 7500 Ladies Auxiliary where she served as the president from 1997-1998,a member of American Legion Banks Miller Post 255 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Lady Weavilettes, a scholarship program sponsored by the Bo Weavils Golf Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Charles O. Moore and Walter A. Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 67 years, Garrett "Bo" Knotts of the home; her children: Lesley (Jimmy) Alston of Spencer, Ronald (Mary) Knotts of Lexington, Beverly (Bruce) Benson of Oklahoma, Warren Knotts of the home, Patti Williams of Oklahoma and Angela (Curtis) McDuffie of Lexington; sister-in-law: Delma Moore; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A private funeral service will be Thursday at Roberts Funeral Service. Burial will be Thursday October 1, 2020 at Salisbury National Cemetery at 11:00am. Public viewing will be Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020 at Roberts Funeral Service from 1:00-5:00 PM.
