Lula Hairston Lane, age 86, gave up time for Eternity on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 30, 1936 in Davie County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Irene Clinton Hairston. Lula was dearly loved by her family, friends and the community. Age did not define her for she was spirited and young-at-heart.

Lula received her early education in the Davie County public schools. She was a true caretaker, staying home attending to all her family's needs as well as the community if she could. Being reared in a Christian home, Lula was a former member of Liberty A.M.E. Zion Church, Mocksville, North Carolina. In her leisure, she enjoyed baking, cooking, loving her family and really enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a true Diva, shopping was always on the agenda.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Sheila Hairston and all eighteen of her siblings.

Love, devotion and a fond memory will forever be cherished by three sons: Alton Lane and Stacy Lane, both of Mocksville, North Carolina and Tal Lane of New York; three daughters: Mary Lane of the home, Cecilia (Curtis) Lane Ijames of Salisbury, North Carolina and Irene McDonald of Mocksville, North Carolina; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.



Celebration of Life services will be 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 18, 2022, Victory Baptist Church, 160 Midway Street, Cooleemee, North Carolina 27014 with a 30 minute visitation prior to service time.
