Obituary

In sweet peace, our beloved, Mother Lurline Wilds Clark, entered eternal rest, Thursday, October 31, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. Lurline was born May 17, 1936 in Darlington County, South Carolina to the parentage of Laurie Wilds, Sr. and Redell McNeil Wilds. Lurline was a royal jewel who epitomized grace and dignity. A tender mother and a faithful friend were attributes that made "Ms. Lurline" so endearing. She will forever be remembered for her love, sweet spirit and kindness she showed for her family and friends.

She was educated in the Darlington County, South Carolina public schools, and was employed with Carolina Sportswear Sewing Manufacturing for many years until she decided to be a stay-at-home mother and raise her grandchildren.

Lurline was a devoted and faithful member of Church of God of Prophecy, Mocksville, North Carolina where she was the Mother of the Church. Never idle, in her leisure, she enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to gospel music, sewing, word search, bird watching, gardening, planting flowers, watching Steve Harvey on Family Feud and collecting her favorite items, "Chickens" and "Church People." Family centered and devoted, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was married for over 30 years to and preceded in death by Joseph Dan Clark. Lurline was also preceded in death by her sons: Rudolph Wilds, Willie Wilds and George Wilds; her siblings: Laurie Wilds, Jr., Robert Lee Wilds, Sr., Willie James Wilds and Rose Mae Wheeler.

"Mother Clark," was an unforgettable Lady, and her memory will be cherished with love and affection by her son, Minister Willie James Collins, Jr. of Salisbury, North Carolina; five daughters: Queen (Louis) Overton, Hilda (James) Clark-Bell and Tina Clark, all of Mocksville, North Carolina, Minister Willette Gartrell of Advance, North Carolina and Jo Ann Clark of Spencer, North Carolina; nine grandchildren: Tyrone Wilds, Michael Clark, LaShaunda (James) Hudson, Elliott Wilds, LuGina (Michael) Dumas, Angelique Overton, TeKaira Gaither, Iyeshia Overton and Jacob Bell; nine great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; three brothers: Moses Wilds of Ansonia, Connecticut, Freddie Alford of Thomasville, North Carolina and Santee (Virginia) Wilds of Darlington, North Carolina; two sisters, Bernetha Bess and Carrie Mae (Parrish) Williamson, both of Darlington, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law: Bertha Duncan of Advance, North Carolina and Paulette Clark of Mocksville, North Carolina; three brothers-in-law: Clarence (Sadie) Clark, Jr. of Advance, North Carolina, Preston (Betty) Clark of Salisbury, North Carolina and Charlie (Corrie) Clark of Mt. Vernon, New York; devoted friends: Sammie Mae Clement, Carl and Millie Fulton; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and countless friends.

"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellent them all. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised". -Proverbs 31: 28-30
