Mrs. Mable Martin Garrison was born January 3, 1932 to Roosevelt and Annie Bell Hill Martin in Cherokee Springs, SC.Her sunset was on Thursday, May 28, 2020 in Winston-Salem, NC.She was educated in the public school system of South Carolina and attended Foster's Grove Baptist Church with family in Cherokee Springs, SC.She moved to Winston-Salem, NC in the early 1950's with her parents.Mable met and married William (Bill) W. Garrison.While residing in Winston-Salem she joined Union Baptist Church where she was a member for over 60 years.
Mable will be forever remembered for driving a blue Volkswagen bug.She had a love of needlepoint until her fingers didn't work right, according to her.She then fell in love with doing jigsaw puzzles.
Mable didn't meet a stranger. She was kind and friendly to everyone she met. She loved road trips, especially to the mountains. Mable was proud of her four children.She was proud that they had a chance to attend college.She helped all of her children at one time or another.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Laurie G.Garrison(ECSU); a devoted son, Dr. Cleveland M. Garrison(XULA) (Rosanna); daughters, Harriett Garrison(NCA&T) and Annie Jackson(WSSU); sister/cousin Trutella Fuller (Tacoma Park, MD); nine grandchildren: David Martin, Sydney, Tyler and Tori Garrison, Andy and Sandy Pena Gonzalez, Kevin Jackson, Robert T.B. McCormick, Garrison McCormick and a host of other loved ones and friends.
Her Life will be graciously celebrated 12 noon on Saturday, June 6, 2020 from the chapel of Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem.Mrs. Garrison's mortal frame shall be coached to Foster's Grove Baptist Church, 899 Fosters Grove Road, Chesnee, SC for earthly rest.Public viewing will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem.
