Madeline Ramsey Mobery, 77, of Lexington, peacefully departed this earthly life to go from labor to reward on August 18, 2016 after a gradual decline in health at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Thomasville with family visitation an hour before the service. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.
Public viewing will be Thursday from 1:00pm to 7:00pm at Roberts Funeral Service.
Madeline was born November 8, 1938 in McDowell County, WV to James and Adell Ramsey. After 36 years of service to families and children, she retired from McDowell County Head Start Program in 2007 and relocated to Lexington, NC. Madeline was an active member of Union Baptist Church of Thomasville, NC.
Madeline was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Harry, Kyle, John, Derrick and Chester and a sister, Ernestine.
Madeline leaves to cherish her memory, four children: Carlton Mobery (Sherry), Carmen Mobery (Fletcher), Cheryl Shelton (Barry) and Randall Gist (Laura); six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great- great grandson; siblings: Rosetta Smith of Palmdale, CA; James Ramsey Jr. (Marie) of New York, NY; Virgie Ramsey of Yonkers, NY; Clifton Ramsey (Carolyn) of Washington, DC, Alfonso Ramsey (Helen), Alice Johnson (Ron) of High Point, NC, Leonard Ramsey (Joanne) of Yonkers, NY, Bernice Jefferies of Bronx, NY, Preston Ramsey (Rosetta) of Philadelphia, PA and Clyde Ramsey (Vicky) of Dallas, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
