IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcus Javan
Green
May 5, 1958 – November 17, 2021
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness…
II Timothy 4:7,8
Marcus Javan Green answered God's call and on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 left his earthly home and entered into eternal rest. We, his family and friends, give thanks to the Almighty for his grace and mercy; we give thanksgiving for the time we were able to share his life.
Born May 5, 1958 in Forsyth County, North Carolina, Marcus was the son of the late Eddie and Gloria Nivens Green. He received his formal education in the Forsyth County public schools and graduated from RJ Reynolds High School, Class of 1976. He entered the workforce at an early age, working at the Reynolds Tobacco Plant, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Never idle, Marcus was also known as "the chef" working in various restaurants.
He was added to Redland Church of Christ on November 18, 1990.
Before losing his sight, he loved watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed playing pool, playing golf, fishing and he had a passion for cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bois Green and Vincent Green.
Marcus and Alice Blackwell Green were joined in Holy Matrimony on October 8, 1983 and were united in marriage for 38 years. They were loving and devoted parents to April, Brittany and Shymeka.
Those left to cherish a legacy of love and fond memories are his wife, Alice Blackwell Green, Advance, North Carolina; three daughters: April Green, Brittany Green and Shymeka Green, all of Advance, North Carolina; three sisters: Teresa (Barrie) Buey, Carol Green and Annita Green, all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; sisters-in-law: Willie Mae Simmons of Cleveland, North Carolina, Sammie Clement of Advance, North Carolina, Stella Blackwell of Mocksville, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Nedra) Blackwell of Warrensburg, Missouri; a special great-great niece, Janie Scott of Mocksville, North Carolina; several aunts and uncles; bestfriend, Russell Harper of Clemmons, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
