Obituary

On Thursday, May 2, 2024, Marcus Renwrick, a loving son, brother and friend, unexpectedly passed away at the tender age of 33.

Marcus was born on May 24, 1990 in Lexington, NC as an adorable curly haired boy to his proud parents. Marcus, better known as Marc-Marc, grew up in Salisbury, NC, where he attended Rowan and Davie County Schools.

He had a passion for music which motivated him to attend the Atlanta School for the Arts. During his 20's, his creative and entrepreneurial spirit fueled his desire for diverse business interests. He loved writing and performing music, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family. Formerly known as "Famous Lokee," he began his rapping career in 2011, which allowed him the opportunity to experience extraordinary things in life. Not only was he a good cook (a crockpot master), but he considered himself a bourbon connoisseur and loved having a "good drink" with family. He enjoyed bowling and Top Golf with the family and was always ready to compete. His competitive spirit in all things in life shined through with his successes as he refused to give up even when life got hard. He set an example of perseverance, hard work and dedication!

In February 2023, he accepted a job with Freightliner that he loved. He was nicknamed "One Speed" at his job because his work performance was steady and at one speed, but consistent and proficient. He was loved by his coworkers and did a job many could not. He enjoyed life and did not rush through it. He was a survivor of life challenges and a "go-getter." Many would say he was a man of few words and extremely humble. He had a contagious smile with a great sense of humor, and most importantly, he shared a strong belief in Christ. He never missed an opportunity to discuss God's grace and the plans the Lord has for us all.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bennie Thomas and Howard Millner and grandmothers, Sharon Harris and Anna Lee Covert.

Marcus will be lovingly remembered by his parents: Olinthia "Lovetta" (Smoot) Harris of Lexington, Marcellus "Nigel" Renwrick, Cedric and Erica Harris (Charlotte); his son, Alijah Scott; his grandparents, Berline Thomas (Lexington) and Frederick Harris (Lexington); his sisters, Laquita Renwrick (Lexington), Shiasia Harris (Thomasville) and Ja'elle Ross Brown (Indian Trail); his nephews and nieces: Aiden, Kamariya, Ka'Monnie, Adonis, Jyhiem, Syhiem; and a host of aunties, uncles and cousins. It saddens us that we have lost Marcus, but we will continue to hold on to the joyous memories created over the years. Sleep in peace Marcus, for you will forever be in our hearts.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:00pm at Christ Deliverance Temple with family visitation at 12:00 Noon. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at Roberts Funeral Service.
