Margaret White Ijames joined our Lord in eternal rest on Sunday, January 8, 2023 while a patient at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Our family is blessed to have shared a loving journey with our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We give thanks for her life.
Born on May 4, 1941 in Iredell County, North Carolina, Margaret was the daughter of the late Will and Velma Dalton White. She was educated in the Iredell County Public Schools, Iredell County, North Carolina. Margaret retired from Sara Lee Corporation (Hanes), Winston-Salem, North Carolina as a Lead Supervisor but her most loved profession was as a homemaker to her family. She was a faithful member of the New Jerusalem Apostolic Church, Mocksville, North Carolina where she served as Senior Mother of the Church and worked in the Financial Administration for more than 30 years. Always working in the community, Margaret enjoyed being a member of the following organizations: Back 2 School Empowerment Initiative as the Quality Control Coordinator, Davie County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and member of the R.E Ijames Scholarship Foundation.
Margaret met and married the love of her life, John C. Ijames, Jr. They were married on September 1,1963 and were companions for over 59 years.
Margaret was dedicated to her family and she will be remembered fondly by her husband, John C. Ijames, Jr. of Mocksville, North Carolina; three sons: Terry (Kennie) White of Garner, North Carolina, Kenny (September) Ijames of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Curtis (Monique) Ijames of Apex, North Carolina; three daughters: Kathy (Erwin) Davidson of Mocksville, North Carolina, Kay (Eric) Blount of Mocksville, North Carolina and Lisa (Kelvin) Roberson of Garner, North Carolina; twenty-five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Robert White of Salisbury, North Carolina; one sister, Carolyn Hairston of Mocksville, North Carolina; six sisters-in-law: Rosa Lee Arnold, Josephine Ijames, Margaret White, Elouise Parks, Sylvia Mankins and Nettye Ijames-Barber; a brother-in-law, James E. Ijames; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be conducted 2:30 pm, Sunday, January 15, 2023 at New Jerusalem Apostolic Church of Mocksville, North Carolina with a visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Roberts Chapel, Mocksville, North Carolina.
