Marion Elaine Bowens was born and raised in Yonkers, New York to the late Harry and Beatrice Brink on January 19, 1926.She departed her life on January 11, 2019 at 6:05 p.m. at home surrounded by loved ones.
She attended George Washington High School in Manhattan, New York. She worked in the Official Store inside of the Empire State Building.She made homemade jewelry that she wore very proudly every time she went out.She married her sweetheart, Rudolph Bowens when she was 18 years old. That union produced 7 beautiful children whom they loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Bowens; brother, Harry Brink; sister, Jerry Lucas; daughters: Renee Stephens (Earl Stephens), Beverly Stroman and Deborah Montgomery.
Marion is survived by her two sons, Gregory (Mattie) Bowens of W-S, NC and Charles Brink of Yonkers, NY; a daughter, Sandra (Tyrone) Anderson of Queens, NY;her adored grandchildren: Earl Stephens, Jr. (Dana), Lorraine Olusesi (Olatunde), Mark Stephens (Eyka), Matthew Stephens, Nicole Latorre, Sydney Stroman (Debbie), Nadine Stroman, Elaine Stroman, Michelle Anderson, Dawn Anderson, Tyrone Anderson (Christina), Tonya Nelson (Joseph), Nayeter Lewis (Earnest), Tara Graham, Guy Graham, Quiana Bowens, Kimberly Bowens and Gregory Gibbs; a sister, Grace Dorsey; a very special friend, Darlene Laprade; many loving nieces and nephews as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews;other relatives and friends.
A Victorious Celebration of her Life will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 19, 2019 from the chapel of Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem with Pastor Sandra Ford presiding.The family visitation will be 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 1:00 P.M.Her mortal frame shall find earthly rest in the serenity of Oakland Cemetery in Yonkers, NY.Her remains shall lie in repose for public viewing 2:00 P.M. 'til 6:00 P.M. Friday, January 18, 2019 at Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem Chapel.The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home.
