Obituary

Heaven's Gate has opened for Bishop Mary Elizabeth Chunn-Mock, God's Humble Servant. Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Educator and Friend. An exemplary life of faith, family, fellowship, and friends.
Bishop Mary Elizabeth Chunn Mock, age 81, entered Eternal rest Saturday, December 30, 2023 while a patient at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born December 15, 1942 in Davie County, North Carolina, Mary was the daughter of the late Hardin Chunn and the late Beulah Foster Chunn. During this most joyous season, we give thanksgiving to Our Almighty Lord and Savior for sharing his daughter with us. We will be forever grateful for the many families and friends who have shown their love and helped to make her transition a little more comforting.
Elizabeth, as she was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Davie County graduating from Davie High School. After receiving her Bachelors of Arts Degree, Elizabeth went on to obtain three Master Degrees with the last one in Theology from Ambassadors Christian College, Salisbury, North Carolina. Elizabeth was last employed with Davie High School, Mocksville, North Carolina as an EC Teacher. She loved people and was involved in church and community. At Third Wind Church, Mocksville, North Carolina, where she was a member, Elizabeth was an ordained Bishop. Her love for Christ was evident all through her life, as she started several ministries over the years to include: New Believers Ministries in the early 1980's; New Generation Ministries in the early 2000's; and later moving her membership to Third Wind Ministries where she worship and guided her son Apostle Derrick Mock.
Enjoying the simple things in life, Elizabeth had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her garden, singing, mentoring, teaching, traveling, making TikTok videos, cracking jokes, spending time with family and friends, having church, making sure everyone was on time for whatever the occasion was, but mostly just being around people
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin Mock and granddaughter, Niesa Mock.
Her life will forever be cherished and remembered by her loving children: Dexter Mock and Derrick (Abony) Mock, Sr., both of Mocksville, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Christopher (Keisha) Mock, Anitria Mock, Markita James, Aisha Mock, Derrick Mock, Jr; eight great-grandchildren: Micah, Damarian, Vernon Lee III, Preston, Tyzir, Christian, Aliyah, and Alijah; three brothers: Gene (Gail) Chunn of Salisbury, North Carolina, Paul Chunn of Tampa Bay, Florida, and Frankie Cox of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sisters: Connie (Alan) Nichols of Cooleeme, North Carolina and Wilmenia (Anthony) Diddly of Salisbury, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
