There is a comforting thought at the close of the day, it is that our lives are richer and blessed to have known Mary Ann Cody. Mary had a sweet spirit. Born March 13, 1970 in Davie County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Booker T. and Magdalene Wilson Cody, Sr. Mary was called to her Eternal home Monday, July 5, 2021. We are thankful for the years we were able to share in her life. She will live in our hearts eternally.She was employed as a Manager with Family Dollar, Mocksville, North Carolina.
A believer, Mary was a member of Mainville AME Zion Church, Mocksville. Mary loved her family and enjoyed entertaining at her home. She enjoyed spoiling her church members with new hair styles. Other hobbies included enjoying lively conversations with friends and family, cooking, playing BINGO, listening to music while drinking her favorite soda, "Mt. Dew, " and making sure her home was spotless.
Educated in the Davie County, North Carolina public schools, Mary was a 1987 graduate of Davie County High School, Mocksville, North Carolina and later attended Dudley Cosmetology School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings: Brida Lee Cody Wilkins, John Lee Cody, Booker Stanely Cody, William Cody and Floyd Cody and a grandchild, Jypsi Mayfield.
Her beautiful smile, helping hands and warm demeanor will be remembered and cherished by her two sons, Ernest G. Mayfield, Jr. and LaBron R. Mayfield, both of Mocksville, North Carolina; five grandchildren: James, Brooklyn, Lavaris Sunnie, Emeris, LaBron Jr.; two sisters, DeAnna Cody, Mocksville, North Carolina and Deborah F. Cody, King, North Carolina; two brothers, Samuel J. Cody, Charlotte, North Carolina and Edward L. Cody, Washington, D.C; and a host ofnieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Roberts Chapel at 3:00pm with family visitation at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Mainville AME Zion Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be Friday from 1-6pm at Roberts Chapel.
