Mary Frances Wynds Davis was born on August 27, 1936 to the late Queen Esther Wesley Wynds and the late Ulysses Wynds in Blakey, Georgia. She slipped into eternity on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC.
Frances was a proud 1955 graduate of Roosevelt High School in West Palm, Florida. After working and saving some money, Frances relocated to Hackensack, New Jersey where she met her husband of 42 years, the late James Davis, Sr. To this union were born two children, James, Jr. and Janice.
In 1974, Frances and James became homeowners and relocated their family from Hackensack, New Jersey to Lexington, North Carolina. Frances was employed and retired from PPG Industries after more than 20 years of dedicated service.
Frances was an active member of Files Chapel Baptist Church and enjoyed serving on the Usher Ministry during her earlier years of membership and also participated in the Widows Ministry. When she became unable to attend in person, she faithfully watched service virtually.
In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Eunice and Pinkie Lee.
She leaves behind her legacy of love and cherished memories with her daughter, Janice Davis Richardson of the home; son, James (Lynette) Davis, Jr. of Lexington; granddaughter, Shantia (Jacob) Davis Fearington of Lewisville, NC and grandson, James (BriAna) Davis III of Garden City, KS; seven great grandchildren: Yoeli Davis, Elisha Davis, Azalee Davis, Ezekiel Davis, Ethan Fearington, Ashland Fearington and Tori Fearington; sisters-in-law: Sara Reid and Louise Copeland of Lexington, NC and Peggy (Michael) Loper McShane of Berkeley, CA; brother-in-law: Major (Venie) Davis of Lexington, NC; precious memories will also be shared by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her, as well as a special childhood friend, Adelaide Reese of Atlanta, GA.
Funeral service will be Sunday at 3:30 at Files Chapel Baptist Church with family visitation at 3:00pm. Burial will follow at South Lexington City Cemetery.
