Obituary

With love and sincere reverence, our beloved Mother, Mary C. Eaddy, transitioned from this life into eternal rest on Friday, September 5, 2025 at her residence. We rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace and in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mary was born on October 6, 1933 in Pamlico, South Carolina to the late Wilbur and Christine Green. She was also preceded in death by her only sibling, Wilbur Green, Jr. (affectionately known as WG); her devoted husband, the Reverend Mose Eaddy, former pastor of Cunningham First Baptist Church; her granddaughter, Ronica Jan Jones-Malachi; and her two great-great-grandsons, Quinton Carpenter and Adir Eaddy.

Educated in the Florence County, South Carolina school system, Mary grew up with strong Christian values. In 1951 she married the love of her life, the Reverend Mose Eaddy, and together they were blessed with their firstborn, Willie. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Thomasville, North Carolina where they welcomed three more children: Harry, Helen and Janice. Reverend and Mother Eaddy shared 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2017.

Mary worked for many years as a seamstress with Carolina Underwear and continued her career faithfully until her retirement. As a mother, she instilled in her family a commitment to unwavering love, forgiveness, gratitude and the joy of fellowship with others. Even after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2012, she never complained but instead expressed deep appreciation to all her caregivers, always saying, "Thank you."

A woman of enduring faith, Mother Eaddy devoted her Christian service to several church families throughout her life. Most notably, she served faithfully at Cunningham First Baptist Church of Thomasville, NC where she walked proudly alongside her husband as First Lady. Within the church, she served in many roles, including choir member, president of the Usher Board, member of the Missionary Circle and member of the Rising Star Association.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children: Willie (Mae) Eaddy of Rochester, PA, Harry (Linda) Eaddy of Denton, TX, Mary Helen (Javan) Carpenter and Janice (Ronald) Jones, both of Thomasville, NC; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her beloved cousins, Theola and Benjamin (Benny) Myers of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mother Eaddy's life was a testimony of faith, love, endurance and grace-a legacy that will live on through all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Cunningham First Baptist Church, with family visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. A public viewing will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service. Following the service, burial will take place at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
