Mary Lattimore Fowler was born November 10, 1943 to Thomas and Verdie Lattimore. Mary was called home and gained her Heavenly wings on August 4, 2022 peacefully at her home surrounded by her children and friends.
Mary attended Dunbar High School where she was a member of the women's basketball team playing for legendary coach Charles England. Mary worked for Lexington Furniture Industries and Burger Kings for years until she was no longer able to work due to health issues. Mary was a strong woman, a true protector and provider for her family. Mary was a member of Files Chaple Baptist Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Fowler, Sr. and her siblings: Jean Salley, James Lattimore, Thomas Lattimore, Jr., John Lattimore, Dalemonte "Count" Peoples, Amanda Little, Willie Peoples and Ernest Peoples.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory nine children: Willie (Deloris) Lattimore of Lexington, Robert (Sharon) Lattimore of Hinesville, Ga, Don Lattimore of Catawba County, NC, Thomas (Tara) Fowler of Greensboro, NC, Antoine Fowler of Winston-Salem, NC, Cassandra (Rick) Fowler, Verdie Fowler, Adonis Wilson all of Lexington and Arnold (Nanyamka) Fowler of Winston-Salem; siblings: Robert "Bobby" Lattimore of Brooklyn, NY, Kurt Peoples, Russell Peoples, Jimmy Peoples, Doris Bethea and Sadie Rivers all of Lexington; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The funeral will be Saturday at Files Chapel Baptist Church at 12:00pm. with family visitation at 11:00am prior to the service. Burial will follow at South Lexington City Cemetery.
