Mary Jane Lanier Dalton, 83, of Carters Grove Rd., died on August 11, 2018 at her residence.

Mary was born on August 21, 1934, in Statesboro, Ga to Freddie B. Lanier and Jessie Lee Smith Lanier. She retired from Dixie Linwood Plant #2. Mrs. Dalton was a member of Files Chapel Baptist Church where she served on the kitchen committee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred J. Dalton; five brothers: Isaac Smith, Edward, Herman, Benjamin and Melvin Lanier and four sisters: Eloise Williams, Annie Harper, Jennie Davis and C. Lucille Lanier.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her devoted daughters: Rose Dalton-Banks and Phyllis A. Dalton; a son, Fred E. Dalton; a brother, John F. Lanier of St. Paul, Minnesota; a sister, Jesse (Aubry) Luckey of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a niece who was raised as a daughter, Tracey Dalton; two godchildren: Steve Owens and Myra Ricks-Holt; special friend of the family, Marlena Ricks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 12:30pm at Files Chapel Baptist Church with family visitation at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.
