Obituary
Mary Louise Payne, 83, of Booker Ave., died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral service will be Monday at 1:00p.m.at Union Baptist Church with family visitation a half hour before.Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.
She was born in Davidson County on August 26, 1933 to DeLane Pearson and Ophelia Murphy Pearson.She retired from Holt School and was a member of Union Baptist Church, Community Watch and known as the "Mayor" of Lincoln Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Payne, Jr.; a son, Gary L. Payne and a brother, William Murphy.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, George Payne III; a daughter, Loretta Payne; 14 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
