Mary Ellen Meachem Talbert, 93 years old, departed this life on February 7, 2024 at 10:30 pm PST at Holi Senior Center, Hillsboro, Oregon. She was born in Wadesboro, NC to the late Napoleon and Ellen Meachem. Mary attended Anson County Training School and after graduation, NCCU prior to attending NC A&T from which she graduated. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Sadie, Alice, Elizabeth, Pearl; brothers: Earl, Roy, David; and her husband, Wayne of 56 years. Surviving are her four children: Deidre, Darryl, Marvin and Jeffrey; sister, Margret Meachem; brothers: Raymond, Sherman and Clarence Meachem.


Mary Talbert's Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday at New Jersey AME Zion Church at 2:00pm, with viewing from 1:00-2:00pm. Burial will be Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 10:00 am at Salisbury National Cemetery.
