Mary Louise Tate Holmes, 87, of Kirkwood St., died Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at her residence.

The funeral service will be Sunday at 2:30pm at Files Chapel Baptist Church with family visitation a half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Saturday from 1-6pm at Roberts Funeral Service.

She was born in Davidson County on January 25, 1928, to Lloyd Tate Sr. and Charlotte Lillie Wilson Tate. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Holmes Sr.; a son, Thomas Holmes, Jr.; two brothers, Lloyd Tate, Jr. and Raymond Tate and two sisters, Bennie Tate and Glenda R. Tate.

Mrs. Holmes leaves to cherish her memory her son, Reggie Holmes; two daughters, Mary Martin and Helen Holmes-Dye; a daughter-in-law, Olivia Holmes; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Peoples, Brenda Horton and Elaine Tate and a host of other relatives and friends.
