Our beloved matriarch, Mrs. Mary Ann Leverett Terry, affectionately known as "M. Mae," was born on January 19th, 1924 in Ware Shoals, SC to John Thomas Leverett and Josephine Freeman Leverett. Mrs. Terry passed away on Thursday, April 6th, 2023 at her residence.


Mrs. Terry was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Martin-Leverett Family Association. She retired as a licensed practical nurse after many years of service. After retirement, she continued her education by obtaining a bachelor's and a master of divinity degree from Shaw University. Her family will forever be blessed by her kindness, love and wisdom.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Terry; two sons, Dwight Terry, Sr. and Richard Terry, Sr.; four sisters: Blanche O. Leverett, Jessie Mae Randleman, Ruby L. White and Louise L. Anderson; seven brothers: Luther, Doris, Robert, Theodore, William, Thomas and Hosea Leverett.


A loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she leaves to cherish her memory a son, Michael W. (Shawn) Terry of Tampa, Florida; three daughters: Linda K. Terry of Thomasville, NC, Sandra L. Terry of High Point, NC and Andrea T. (Everett) Baldwin of Lexington, NC; 14 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Terry and Sadie Allen; a daughter-in-law, Sarah B. Terry and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church at 1:00PM. Family visitation will begin at 12:30PM. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
