Maya Solange Gordon, 51, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 6, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York, Maya lived a life full of laughter and joy, always embracing the moment and bringing fun wherever she went. She graduated from Lexington Senior High School, Class of 1992, and later pursued her passion at cosmetology school in Bennettsville, South Carolina.

Maya will be lovingly remembered by her wife, LaKesha Smith; her parents, Barbara Matthews and Alex Gordon; her cherished daughters, Deja and Nija; and her beloved sisters, Zoe and Alexandra. She also leaves behind nieces Lauryn, Marley and Amaya; a nephew, Mason; and a host of devoted aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Known for her quick wit, love of dancing and amazing cooking skills, Maya brought warmth and laughter into every space she entered. Her adventurous spirit and infectious energy left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. The memories she created—full of humor, light and love—will be treasured forever.

A funeral service honoring Maya's life will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Service, with family visitation beginning at 12:30 PM. Public viewing will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, also at Roberts Funeral Service.
