Mechele Dawn Holdaway, 53, of Linwood, NC, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025 at her home in Tyro, NC. She was born on July 21, 1971 in Durham, North Carolina.
Mechele had a radiant spirit and made friends everywhere she went. Her bright, infectious smile could light up any room. She was deeply passionate about her career in the medical field, whether working at the hospital or serving with the rescue squad. The sound of sirens always brought excitement to her eyes, reflecting her dedication to helping others.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose love and warmth will be cherished forever.
Mechele was preceded in death by her parents, Linda and Terry Cantrell; her brother, Terry Lee Cantrell and her sister, Tami Shanahan.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Perry Holdaway; her daughter, Velia Sue Williams; her sons: Arlen Ray Sparks, Jr., Matthew Dale Sparks and Jesse Neil Butler, all of Lexington; and her stepdaughter, Bethany Lamb of Thomasville. She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 12:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Service. A graveside ceremony will take place at 2:00pm at Cline Family Cemetery, 220 Goat Dr., Linwood, NC 27299, officiated by Pastor Herman Powell.
