Obituary
Melvin Brooks, 82, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Plymouth, NC to Charlie Brooks and Ernestine Wynn Brooks on July 1, 1940.
He retired from Young and Hinkle Furniture. Mr. Brooks was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Wilma Jean Parker Brooks; a son, Melvin Moultrie; 2 step-sons, Marshall Parker and Marcus Parker; 2 step-daughters, Pamela Parker and Cassandra Carpenter; 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters: Evangeline Williams, Elizabeth Whitehead, Mary Fields, Barbara Phelps, Pearl Smith, Annie Smith and Betty Smith; 3 brothers: Ronald Lee Brooks, James Brooks and Marvin Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.
